Iziaslav: the beauty we can lose forever
Having traveled almost all of Khmelnytskyi region, I could not get to Iziaslav for a long time. It is located kind of inconveniently. Probably I would be waiting even a longer time to meet it, if not for one wonderful August evening. I had to shoot a promotional video for the web site. And we choose the ruins of an old parish church of the 16th century in Iziaslav. After work we jumped into the car and within an hour and 15 minutes were at the place.
I will not waste our time on describing the history and numerous sights of old Zaslav, and today - Iziaslav. Here is the Wiki article, everything is written in there. I will show you instead how all of this heritage of many centuries looks today.
The town is small and looks more like a village. But I cannot call it a village, knowing what a powerful city was Iziaslav for several centuries. And today the number of architectural monuments here is disproportionately large for such a small town. Nevertheless, 2 hours was enough for us to see everything. Since everything is near.
Let's start with the Church of St. John the Baptist, or the Parish Church. It was built at the end of the 16th century. This is the oldest temple in the city, which was the tomb of the Zaslavskyi’s. The communists destroyed it after the Second World War. But even now the temple amazes with its majesty.
