Fire Station
39 Podilska St.
One of the symbols of our city is the building of the former fire station, which now houses the Planet cinema. This building is perhaps the best example of the architecture of Khmelnytskyi in the 1950s. The project of the building of the city fire brigade was developed by the architect G. Checkerda. The structure consists of the main building and the watchtower (belfry). The building of the station is made of brick. The central rectangular part and the side large L-shaped wings stand out in plan.
For more than twenty years, the fire station building has been used for its intended purpose. In 1987, the former fire station was converted into a children's cinema The Planet. In 2004, a clock with chimes was installed on the tower. A new attraction has appeared on the tower in 2019 - the Jacquemar playing the trumpet. You can see it in action several times a day - at 09:00, 12:00, 15:00, 18:00 and 21:00.
